More of You

The song “More of You” was inspired by my dear husband and partner of 30 years.  It was his prayer to the Lord in a prayer meeting one night at church.  When everyone else was requesting prayer for different needs such as financial, physical, or material things (no one less important than the others), he sat down in the prayer chair and said, “I just want more of Him.”   

The next morning at 2:00 a.m., I was awakened when my husband got out of bed to go hunting (why do they have to arise so early to go to the woods – don’t those deer ever sleep?).  As I lay in bed just thinking, I was reminded of his prayer request of the night before.  I said to the Lord, “You know, Lord, that’s what I want too.  That’s what we all need – more of You!”  This song came to me in the wee hours of the morning. 

More of You

In a world full of darkness with trouble all around
My heart gets so heavy when nothing good is found
I get so caught up in my problems that I cannot find the way
But when I really need the answer, I just have to stop and say

Then I kick off all my problems and I look up and see the sun
All at once the world looks brighter, I want to shout and I want to run
I want share the love of Jesus and tell everyone the way
When you really need the answer, you just have to stop and say

I need more of You today than I had yesterday
Lord, you know all my needs
And I need more of you today.
