About Mae

I’m Mae Adkinson, author of Let the Journey Begin: Lessons from the Appalachian Trail. My love of the outdoors, faith, and adventure has shaped much of my life–and ultimately led me to write about the lessons God taught me along the trail.

My husband and I spent eight years completing the Appalachian Trail as section hikers, returning again and again to the mountains whenever life allowed. Along those 2,190 miles, I discovered that the trail has a way of teaching us about perseverance, trust, gratitude, and the presence of God in every step.

Why I Wrote the Book

The trail became more than a physical journey for us. Each climb, difficult stretch, unexpected blessing, and beautiful view reminded us of the ways God meets us in our own journeys. I wrote Let the Journey Begin to share those lessons and encourage others to trust God through both the climbs and the valleys of life.

A Word of Encouragement

Whenever you are in your journey, I hope these stores and reflections remind you that you never walk alone. Whether you are facing a steep climb, walking through a valley, or simply wondering what the next step should be, God is faithful. Take the next step with Him–and let the journey begin.
